Here, we attempt to address many of the common questions we've been getting asked. If you have questions, contact us!
- What is aacPlus?
aacPlus is a type of audio encoding format that provides high fidelity sound over lower-speed Internet connections. Our MP3 stream (our main stream) requires 128 kbps of sustained speed. While this is no problem when on a DSL or cable modem connection to the Internet, mobile devices generally don't provide enough sustained speed.
Primarily for mobile users, therefore, we provide our aacPlus stream, which offers sound quality equal to our MP3 stream—but requiring just 48 kbps of Internet bandwidth, making it ideal for listening on-the-go using 3G cellular connections.
For more information, visit the Dolby Laboratories web site (the company who created aacPlus).
- How do I tune-in?
We have all the details on our Listen page for people using Windows or Mac PCs, as well as mobile devices.
- How is the music selected for iDanceRadio.fm?
Our primary basis for selection is whether the track in question is of commercial quality. Is the production solid? Are the songwriting and vocals engaging? Of course, these things are subjective, but our staff have years of experience in the music industry, and we'd like to think we made good "calls."
But we don't always get it right. We carefully monitor the response to individual tracks, and we listen to the requests and feedback that you provide us as a way to fine-tune what we play.
- How can I get more involved?
The best way to get involved is to participate in our user forums. It's easy! Just create an account, and join in the discussion. Ask questions (of us, or other iDanceRadio.fm listeners). Talk about the music. Let us know what you like, don't like, want, or don't want. We're here, and we're listening!
